Han kallas Duck. Han är en cowboy i modern tid - tuff, tystlåten och lika mytomspunnen som en stor westernhjälte. Med betydligt fler hästkrafter under sin sits dundrar han fram längs vägarna, stannar ibland till för en whisky och fäller desto fler kvinnor än tjurar. Efter ett våldsamt slagsmål mellan korrupta poliser och truckers tvingas Duck och hans vänner fly genom stat efter stat, medan allt fler ansluter sig till konvojen. Hundratals poliser jagar dem, liksom nationalgardet och ett stort mediauppbåd. Duck blir till en symbol för frihet, i en kamp mot skenheliga politiker och omänskliga förbud. Den lilla människans kamp mot den stora - i takt med att gaspedalen pressas allt hårdare mot botten och en hel nation håller andan. SAM PECKINPAH - ACTIONFILMENS MÄSTARE!
